On 2nd October 1977, St Luke's Church, Anna Nagar was bifurcated from Kilpauk  and erected as a parish by His Grace, the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore Dr R  Arulappa. The first Parish Priest was Fr Paul Maruthanakuzhi, SSP. From its inception, this Parish was entrusted to the religious Priests of St Paul. In 1990 the church was extended. The Parishioners built an adoration chapel and a church dedicated to the Divine Mercy. The Parishioners look after the maintenance of the Church. The Divine Mercy Chuch was blessed and consecrated on the 29th of June 2003 by Most Rev Dr Arul Das James, the Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore. The Parish has three sub-stations.
